The WVU Cancer Institute says its 2026 Pink Party raised more than $185,000 for Bonnie’s Bus, the institute’s mobile breast-screening program, at an event held Sept. 28 at a Suncrest Towne Centre venue formerly known as Bartini Prime.
About 230 people attended the fundraiser, which included food, drinks, auction items and sweepstakes, according to the WVU Medicine announcement. It described the amount as a record for the event.
Bonnie’s Bus provides screenings in all 55 West Virginia counties and has delivered about 38,000 screening mammograms since the program began in 2009, WVU Medicine said. The institute’s Mobile Cancer Screening Program has two mammography units, including one based in Charleston, and provides close to 4,000 screenings annually, the announcement said. Grant funding and donations help pay for operations and screenings for eligible uninsured West Virginia patients, according to WVU Medicine.
The announcement said the annual Betty Puskar Breast Cancer Walk is scheduled for Oct. 31 on Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium. People seeking information about supporting the WVU Cancer Institute can visit Cancer.WVUMedicine.org/Giving, the announcement said. It listed Cassie Rice, WVU Foundation director of strategic communications, as the media contact.
