West Virginia University Athletics announced Oct. 9 that the Mountaineers will play a 55-game baseball schedule in 2027, including 22 games at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark in Morgantown, according to the department’s announcement. The schedule includes 23 games against teams that reached the 2025 NCAA Tournament, with WVU set to face nine postseason teams, including two that advanced to Super Regionals.

The season opens with a road series at the College of Charleston from Feb. 19-21, according to WVU Athletics. The Mountaineers then travel to Florida, playing St. John’s in DeLand on Feb. 25 and taking part in the Orlando Baseball Classic from Feb. 26-28, where they are scheduled to face Indiana State, St. John’s and Michigan.

WVU’s home opener is March 2 against Ohio at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark, the third consecutive season the Mountaineers will open their home schedule against the Bobcats, the announcement said. The team is scheduled to play a three-game series at Coastal Carolina from March 5-7, followed by two games against USC Upstate, though the announcement excerpt does not specify the dates for that series.

The 2027 season will be the program’s 136th and the third under head coach Steve Sabins, according to WVU Athletics. The announcement said West Virginia is coming off a 47-17 season in which it made its first College World Series appearance and reached the national semifinals.
