West Virginia fell to Arizona, 52-31, on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, West Virginia University Athletics reported.
According to WVU Athletics, the Mountaineers opened the game with a field goal, but Arizona led 14-3 at the end of the first quarter. West Virginia cut into the deficit after an interception, with Mike Hawkins Jr. scoring a rushing touchdown on the next play, the athletics department reported.
WVU Athletics reported that Cam Cook scored a rushing touchdown to tie the game at 17, and that Amari Latimer later scored a rushing touchdown to make it 31-24 in Arizona’s favor. Cook scored again, bringing West Virginia within seven at 38-31, according to the department. Arizona ultimately finished with 52 points to West Virginia’s 31, the final score reported by WVU Athletics.
