West Virginia University will hold a bell-ringing ceremony Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Oglebay Plaza on the Downtown area of the Morgantown Campus to remember four WVU students, according to an announcement from WVU.

The service will begin at noon at Oglebay Plaza, according to the announcement. Those planning to attend are asked to gather near the bell of the USS West Virginia at least 15 minutes before the service, the university said. Family, friends and members of the University community are welcome, according to WVU.

The ceremony is coordinated by the Office of Campus and Community Life and Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity, according to the announcement. The announcement says the ceremony will remember four students who died in 2025 and 2026.

People who would like to speak at the service should contact Carrie Showalter, dean of students and associate vice president for Student Life, by email at Carrie.Showalter@mail.wvu.edu or by phone at 304-293-5611, WVU said.
